Annisquam village is on the east side of the Annisquam River’s northern end. The northern end of the Annisquam River open to Ipswich Bay and the southern entrance is to Gloucester Harbor. Annisquam was initially a fishing/shipbuilding town that rivaled Gloucester Harbor in the early part of the century.
